Plants as the world’s performers and co-actors! A day after presenting her choreography O, Sonja Pregrad uncovers plant life as a space of collectivity, communication and play. The theatre becomes a ruin overgrown with plants where the human perspective is gently shifted away from everyday certainty through observation, movement and imagination.

Sonja Pregrad’s workshop involves the observation, study and embodiment of plant life, including its critical, fictional and queer gestures. Observing the performance of plants and how they socialise, we read their mobility as movement and dance, their connectedness as collectivity, social relationships and norms, and their reproduction as communication, erotica and theatre. Theatre as a ruin taken over by plant life. What aesthetics and politics can this approach make possible without romanticising or essentialising nature, but, on the contrary, by playing with disorganisation, disrupting the audience’s masculine, systemic, social and theatrical gaze and nudging it towards disorientation and gentling.
