We present the durational performance Monument of Trust: THE ARENA in collaboration with Y Events, an experimental series at Divadlo X10 operating at the intersection of theatre and visual art. Through the medium of performance, Serbian visual artist Ivana Ivković researches how corruption imprints itself on communities of people, bodies and systems. Divadlo X10 will transform into an arena full of broken trust, a tense space between performers and spectators, in which the artist broaches the question of collective action and coexistence in an unstable world.
Monument of Trust: THE ARENA marks a new chapter in a long-term project unfolding across gallery, public, and institutional spaces in Europe. At its core lies the phenomenon of corruption and its deep, often invisible impact on social structures and interpersonal relations. In contemporary neoliberal rationality, efficiency, competition, and individualism script both policy and everyday life. In such systems, corruption is not an anomaly but a structural feature that produces a regime of instability and emotional exhaustion, structuring our feelings, decisions and relationships.
THE ARENA, the newest iteration of Monument of Trust, materializes the tensions between power, resistance, and collective agency. The performance exposes how corruption permeates physical and social architectures, while opening a charged space between the bodies of the performers and the audience, allowing another form of togetherness to emerge.
Monument of Trust: THE ARENA is part of the event Y: Haunted Realities I (Monument) dealing with corruption as a force that dilutes social structures, targets mutual trust and thus directly dismantles interpersonal relationships. In the context of the current civil protests in Serbia (but also in Slovakia and Lithuania) and increasing radicalization in European societies, the project also asks how corruption and conformity transform our relationships and individuals’ capacity to trust each other and the system. With this event, we draw attention to corruption as an all-pervasive symptom of hierarchies of power. Through it, we also wish to express our support for all those who have been taking to the streets in Serbia since November 2024.
A sharing event will follow the event with its creator Ivana Ivković and Serbian speaker and cultural worker Ivana Jecmenica.

Ivana Ivković is a Belgrade-based artist who works exclusively with performers who identify as men. She uses crowds, crowds and groups of male bodies as a symbol of sensitivity and sensuality. She uses flocks, crowds and groups of male bodies as a symbol of sensitivity and sensuality, thus overturning traditional, stereotypical gender roles and reflecting on the social prejudices and taboos emerging from the romantic image of man as soldier, dangerous criminal or hoodlum. Her work not only addresses the issue of masculinity but the relationship between the individual and the system. She has collaborated with a number of important European museums and institutions and her work is represented in several institutions’ collections. Monument: THE AREA marks the first time her work will be presented to Czech audiences.
